After an extensive journey spanning 400 hours and 2,800 miles across 30 states, I’ve gained valuable insights into the art of road-tripping. One of the most significant mistakes I made was driving late into the night. While the allure of quiet roads and starry skies can be tempting, fatigue can quickly set in, leading to decreased alertness and increased risk on the road. It’s essential to prioritize rest and plan overnight stops to ensure safety and enjoyment.
Another critical lesson was the tendency to overpack my itinerary with too many destinations. While the excitement of exploring new places is exhilarating, cramming too many locations into a single trip can lead to exhaustion and prevent genuine enjoyment of each stop. Instead, focusing on a few key destinations allows for a more immersive experience, making the journey more memorable. As I reflect on my travels, these mistakes serve as reminders for future adventures.
